The City at Night

This is a photo I took over the summer. I was coming home from connecticut at midnight and i saw this view and i had to take a picture of it. This is a photo of Manhattan. The Empire State Building and other skyscrapers are lighting up in the night. The sky is dark and then the city is brightening up the place at night. The Empire State Building is lighting up green and red lights. Like they say the city never sleeps.

Dumbo Park

This  is a picture of Dumbo Park, it shows a scene of a beautiful day where there trees, people relaxing, and the bridge extending toward the city in the background. i think the skyline of the city in the background as the sun begins to set, shows the picture’s frame and emphasizes the photo because it shows a more centered view of the park.

Lower Manhattan

I was searching for an aerial view of Chinatown on the Lower East Side of Manhattan when I stumbled upon this photo of the World Trade Center in 2009. The fisheye on the camera creates a bend around the focus on the towers; it warps everything in the photo to add emphasis to the towers. You can also see Queens and Brooklyn in the background and both boroughs seem to fade off into a never ending sky. The towers claim this photo with a sort of dominance around the much smaller sky scrapers and the less prominent buildings further in the background. When the boroughs begin to blend into the bending skies;I begin feel reverence for the person who had the chance to capture this image because everything is near perfect.

I took this picture a while ago. This picture was taken in my
neighborhood, up the block, more like up that hill you see when you
come out from the 103rd street train station. I was born and raised in
East Harlem, Spanish Harlem or El Barrio. You can see a glimpse of my
neighborhood from this hill. The hill for me represents, being on top,
like a colossus feeling. Every day I walked up and down this
street/hill. Every day I hear people complaining about walking up this
hill. I just walk pass them, smile and when I get to the top, I just
view the horizon of uptown Manhattan. I enjoyed this view of being on
top. You can also see the tri-borough bridge that connects Manhattan
to Queens and the Bronx if you looked towards 3rd Avenue and up if you
looked towards 5th Avenue you can see the trees of Central Park
popping up. This picture represents what I see every day and it
represents my block, my neighborhood, and my home.

Horizon

This is a picture of the beach on a chilly afternoon, where the sun is about to set. The beach has a very particular scent, one that makes everything more enjoyable. Although the scene shows powerful waves, it also seems to be a calm and peaceful setting. What amazes me about this picture is how the sky makes a beautiful reflection on the wet sand making it a shiny gold blended in with blue. A view that can only be captured in this time of day. I find it very interesting how unique this sight is with only two colors.

Skyline Sunset

As you can imagine, in this picture the Sun is the most powerful gift we have in life. The sun provides light and it reveals life. Further, I observe that the man-made buildings seem to grow as the sun sets. The first beautiful thing that I see in this photograph is how the sky changes its color into half orange, at the bottom, and half blue, at the top. The second thing that I see in the photo is three different layers. The last layer is filled with buildings and skyscrapers, but it is hard to define the exact color of them. It is as if the setting sun is giving way to the night in bottom layer of the photograph. Right to left, I see the beauty of skyscrapers and buildings which look like small, steep mountains. Toward the middle the large bird seems to say, “how relaxing this moment is.”

my pic

I captured this image in the beginning of this month. This image is a shot of nature. There are many flowers and one bee collecting pollen from one of the flowers. Some flowers have already blossomed and others haven’t. I took this picture one afternoon coming back from school and before entering my house I noticed a swarm of bees flying around the garden. As I payed closer attention to them I saw them flying mainly around these lilac colored flowers. I decided to take this picture because I felt some sort of admiration towards the work of the bees and I found that it would be a beautiful shot of nature. Other than the beauty of these flowers, I was able to capture a bee after so many shots. It was very difficult trying to capture a clear image of a bee, since they were so busy moving from flower to flower collecting pollen.

Starbucks Fairytale

Tinkerbell & Peter Pan, two names that describe me and my cousin , samantha. This photo was taken at Starbucks on 14th street, the reason why this is so special to me is because we didn’t even tell the barista to label our drinks. She over heard a conversation between us and took it upon her self to do it. I like how the photo really captures the names. The lettering is so bold and makes it pop out by having the cups stand side by side. Also, I love the fact that you can see the shadows of the two cups and I like the fact that on the upper left corner, you can see my cousins painted nails.
