About Me

My name is Qing Jiang Huang (Joanna). I was born and raised in China.  I obtained my first bachelor degree in Nutrition and Food Science at Hunter college.  After graduation, I was unable to get into the internship due to fierce competition.  Without internship, I was unable to take national board exam.  I was frustrated, lost and struggling at that time.  I was very unsure what I was going to do in the future. Instead, I kept working for a long period of time. My world was dark and I could not see any hope.  After several dark years, I started to think about a new career and started to look for a chance.  By any chance, I heard from my office manager about dental hygiene for the first time because her client was a dental hygienist working in New Jersey with good income.  My office manager strongly recommended me to have a try.  Since then, I started to search for the relevant information about it.  With the introduction, I learn that dental hygiene can provide many satisfying opportunities, including an attractive income potential, a flexible work schedule, the rewards of keeping people healthy. Gradually, I started to become interested in it.  In my opinion, any jobs that require physical skills will never be out-of-dated, instead they will become more valuable with passage of time and experience.  Dental Hygiene is a competitive profession that requires knowledge and skills, which is my choice for my future career.  After careful consideration, I decided to go back to school again and chose dental hygiene as my major.

After I was admitted to the program, I gradually realized that dental hygiene is a very tough major, which requires you to study hard and practice your skills all the time or you will fall behind others very easily and will be kicked out of the program at any time.  Since I was admitted to the program, I have never been studying so hard and I have never been feeling so nervous and stressful all the time. Under the circumstance, I have to encouraged myself all the time not to give up no matter how hard it was because it is just a step away between success and failure. If I step forward with persistence, I will have a chance to see the hope and success is just near the corner.  I am happy I am still here and I survived.

The journey to dental hygiene is filled with tears, sweats, hard work, endurance, consistency, and happiness all the time. It will be a beautiful and unforgettable memory that will last forever in my life.  It would prepare me to become a professional dental hygienist and to face whatever challenges that may confront me in the future. I am ready for it.
