Signs of hard work include my swollen fulcrum from the extensive hand scaling provided. Yet it felt good…almost like when your muscles ache after a vigorous day at the gym.
This was a case of an Asian female in her 40’s who denied any medical conditions but strongly suggested mental issues. She was somewhat disruptive and I had to be a bit more firm in my tone with her. She was a case Heavy Type III with a lot of staining. However, she was happy with the results that she says she didn’t want to eat anymore to keep her teeth clean!
This was a case of a pedo patient who was 7 years old. She was terrified of everything, including the taste of the water! At the same time, her mother was very insistent that I put sealants on the patient. I had to explain step by step what I was going to do before I started any procedure. I also let her touch and feel the polish, air syringe and told her to hold the mirror so that she could feel secure. I also used terms such as “Mr. Thirsty”, “Tickle Me Brush”, and “Tooth Counter”, “Pillows”(for cotton rolls), to make things seem more friendly to the anxious child. The patient was still very nervous and cried many times. She did not get to sealants placed, however everything else was a success!
