I chose a career in dental hygiene because it seemed like the best career for me personally. From a young age, science and biology were always my favorite subjects. I loved learning about the human body, and knew from that I wanted to work in healthcare. I was especially fascinated about teeth and how it’s a unique part of our body, and ways to prevent disease in the oral cavity. I also love working with people and using my hands, as dental hygiene is a physically stimulating job. Another aspect of this job that I enjoy is building rapport with patients. Seeing patients every 6 months or so, I’m able to build relationships with them. I currently work as a dental assistant, however I am very excited to begin my career as a dental hygienist.
