Generation Barriers

What are Generation Barriers?

Generation barriers are the differences in opinion between people of different generations.

Is this something to be concerned about?

Generation barriers is an issue and can result with disagreements which can also be addressed as “generational conflict”. A generational conflict can occur when the interests or ideals of one generation collide with the ideals of another generation.

From the image above it illustrates an example of a generational conflict. From the image it appears to show an argument between an adult and a teenager. Uncertain as to what caused the argument one can assume that a disagreement occurred because the teenager that’s seated on the chair seems to be stressed that he couldn’t reach an agreement with the adult. Through personal experiences I’ve had situations very similar to what’s being shown in the image. An example of mine would be when my parents complaining about my grades being terrible when in actuality they aren’t bad but neither are they the best. I find it difficult to come to an agreement through talking when their ideals of good grades are 90-100s when my ideal is to aim for a passing score above 65 and improve from there. In this situation the way we interpret things are different which is a reason why disagreements occur.
