A synchronous online lab class should have a little lecturing and more activities during the class. Students can be split in breakout rooms to answer critical questions, complete fill-in the blanks, labeling, and other specifically designed activities. There should be ample back and forth between the instructor and students as students get to actively engage with the material, express their ideas and ask questions during the lab class.
It is not acceptable to use videos to replace live classes; class recordings, just like other audiovisual material can be used as supplemental teaching resources but should not be used in lieu of class meetings.
