The decisions for synchronous or asynchronous instruction are made based on the curriculum and perceived needs of the students, by the department chair. On CUNYfirst, asynchronous class sections, have the mention “TBA” instead of days and times for meetings; just like regular in-person classes, synchronous class sections have designated days and times for meetings.
