Welcome!

Hello, my name is Olga Gorokhovskiy. I am a Dental Hygiene student at the New York City College of Technology. I am currently finishing up the two-year program, and look forward to soon joining the ranks of Registered Dental Hygienists as well as becoming an active member of ADHA.

I am both serious and passionate about my future profession, because I believe Dental Hygienists make the world a brighter place one smile at a time. This may sound a little cliché, but it is fun to think and it is fun to say because it happens to be true.

I’m a firm believer that much of our personal success, confidence and physical and even emotional well-being are directly related to the beauty and health of our smile, our teeth and our gums. A person with a beautiful smile feels so confident and ready to take on the world, and they use that smile more often spreading their good mood to the people around them. Healthy teeth and gums are frequently a good indicator of the person’s general state of health, and quite the opposite a poor state of oral health can be instrumental in helping discover other underlying health issues, often saving the person’s life. Both oral and dental health is extremely important to our mood, our overall health and all of the aspects of our lives that our mood and health affect.

The rigorous, concentrated curriculum of the Dental Hygiene Program has taught me volumes both about the profession and myself. The many extracurricular activities I got a chance to be a part of did as well. I consider myself fortunate to have been made privy to all the science, the wisdom, the communication and the humanity of this profession and look so forward to using all of I’ve learned to make my future patients’ lives better by making their smiles healthier and brighter.
