Centering Accessibility in Course Design

Move to Blackboard and enroll in and complete the CUNY Accessibility & UDL Workshop. Once you finish the training, you will receive a certificate. Please forward your completed certificate to the OER coordinator.

About: Self-paced, online course on accessibility in Blackboard, created by CUNY faculty for CUNY faculty. Learn how to make online courses and materials accessible to all students. Contents include Accessibility in Blackboard, Microsoft Office and PDF documents, Multimedia, and Materials from Publishers.

Enroll in the training

  1. Login to Blackboard
  2. On the left menu, navigate to ‘Organizations.’
  3. In the course search box, type ‘Self-paced Accessibility and UDL Workshop’ to display the training. You can also try getting there via this link.
  4. Click on the training link to open the outline. Proceed by navigate through the sections via the left menu. Screen shot below.

Completing the training

  1. Consult the Accessibility and UDL Workshop Outline (PDF)
  2. To receive the certificate, complete UDL & Your Teaching and Blackboard Accessibility (as required topics), as well as at least four topics from Topics 3-7. Complete the quizzes posted at the end of each topic, and earn a score of 80% or more to receive a certificate.

Receiving and verifying your certificate

Please email your certificate of completion to the OER coordinator.

You will automatically receive a certificate once you’ve finished, and scored at least 80% on the quizzes for the topics.

  1. To view your certification, click Workshop Certificate in the left-hand menu. 
  2. Click Certificate of Completion to view the My Achievements page, where you will see the certificate listed beneath your name.
  3. Options for verifying your certificate could be sending either of the following via email to Cailean (ccooney@citytech.cuny.edu):
    1. Take a screenshot of the print certificate window
    2. On the print certificate window, click Print Certificate and save as PDF
