Learning Self-Analysis of RNBS Program

In today highly competitive economy like ours, many individuals strive to obtain the highest degree possible to stay relevant to their given field. Well, I am not an exception.  With increasingly more hospitals seeking magnet status I knew that RNBS was an important step for me to build upon my learned technical hands on approach and scientific knowledge in a way that stimulates critical thinking and strong focus on evidence-based practice that will help me to advance in my nursing career.  My goal is to polish my professional skills and be marketable for potential employers, who will see me as an asset for their company where I will contribute to the professional world of nursing.

From my experience during RNBS program attention has shifted from hands on technical skills to a bigger focus a profession of nursing as a whole.  Different courses offered an opportunity to become better nurse managers or leaders of the future, courses that further investigates physical assessment are being applied during clinicals to acute patients. RNBS program offers a variety of classes along with clinical sites to learn and explore nursing on another level.  For instance, during my clinical experience I was assigned to a nurse manager where I went along with her to different meetings with staff and doctors, as well as went rounds to see patients, but this time the visits were different from what I experienced during my two year clinical rotations.  There is definitely more than just a bed side to nursing.

RNBS program introduced an evidence-based research that I can without the doubt point to the sources which are liable and are trustworthy and which are not.  I learned on how to professionally present my papers in APA format style, with cover page and references in alphabetical order.  I was shown nursing from a different angle and prospective I would say.  Also, I want to mention about E-Portfolio which was an important part of practically all my professional nursing classes, which was not introduced to me during my Associate Degree Program.

A self-created, professional page about my achievements and accomplishments during this nursing program, but also a tool that can be used during a real career search where potential employers will be able to see my accomplishments and that I am a true professional.  RNBS degree is polishing ASN nurses to become professionals and experts all the way and I have no doubts that this is just the beginning of my nursing career.

I envision myself to further pursue Master Degree in Nursing, that takes me to Doctoral program and a PhD which I believe prepares clinical and research leaders to advance the practice of nursing and improve health care delivery system.  This is the ultimate and the highest level at which nurses are being prepared to lead health care with strong leadership and the highest organizational level.  This is the way to go.
