Case Study 1 Abstract

This case study describes a 33-year-old female presenting with periodontitis and receiving treatment with Arestin. The patient reports receiving treatment for Hepatitis C, excessive weight, and having an implant since 2019. After completing assessments and developing a treatment plan based on periodontal charting and a radiograph statement, the patient was approved for treatment with Arestin at the distal site with a 5 mm pocket depth to reduce pocket depth. The patient’s periodontal status is classified as Periodontitis, Stage 1, Grade B. Arestin was administered in the distal site of the tooth on November 4, 2023. Reevaluation of the distal site of the tooth after treatment by Arestin revealed a reduction of pocket depth from 5 mm to 3 mm on February 3, 2024. The main goals of treatment with Arestin are reducing inflammation in the gingival tissue, bleeding, and pocket depth for maintaining stabilized oral health.
