This course is about Understanding how fashion and culture interact and how this has changed over time is crucial. This course investigates how historical eras influence clothes design and construction. Analytical methods that assess how culture, economics, politics, and religion impact and shape the fashion of the moment are taught to students. Each student is given the option to choose specific items of clothing, after which they follow the evolution of fashion, trend, and style. Additionally, this course introduces key terms that are essential to the fashion business and necessary to examine all parts of its history. Through readings, movies, conversations, field visits, and guest speakers, issues impacting the fashion industry are examined. Links to local businesses are also made.
