Research Career Paths

The health industry I chose to do more research on is Pre-Health. I learned that the Pre-Health industry offers a variety of internships, including programs for undergraduate students. The Pre-Health industry offers a wide variety of fields involved in medical, scientific research, public health, and veterinary. The field I was most interested in was the field of public health. In the field of public health I learned that internships come in a variety of areas such as formation of public health policy and legislation, research, lobbying, education/awareness programs, and publishing.  I as well learned that public health internships are available in the government, non-profit organizations, and at schools of public health.

Assess Yourself

The assessment activity I completed to learn more about my career interests was O*NET Interest Profiler. On this site I was able to align my interests to figure out possible career options that would work best for me. I answered questions truthfully on my skills and interest, and in the end they tell you what you scored highest in. Once i finished, I scored highest in the investigate option. This means that I like to work with ideas and thinking rather than physical activity or leading people. This also means that I like to search for facts and figure out problems.

Introduction

Hi my name is Nicoll and I am currently a student City Tech College. The reason why I enrolled into HSCI 1101 is because I have always been interested in having an occupation tied to the healthcare field. What I hope to get out of this course is an eye opener to what field I would like to enter in the future.
