Hi, my name is Nicky Joe Ly. Born and raised in New York City, I have always been so grateful to be surrounded by diversity and opportunity. Before dental hygiene, I attended City Tech in 2013 to become a registered nurse, but it did not take long for me to realize that this is not for me. I left the Nursing program in 2015 and took the time I needed to find a new career path. Considering how City Tech offered a dental hygiene program I decided to start working as a dental assistant to get a feel of the dental environment and I fell in love. After being wait listed for 2 years, I entered the dental hygiene program in Fall 2018. Now that I am a senior, I realized that there is more to just cleaning teeth. Teaching, guiding, and preventing oral disease is just the tip of the iceberg. The best part is seeing my patient walk out following my care and feeling clean, confident and requesting  to see me again for their next hygiene appointment.
