Arestin

Arestin is an amazing value for the patient because in the dental office that I work for they charge about $60.00 a cartridge per site. The majority of the pocket depths went down about 1-2mm and the patient described that her gingiva actually felt tighter and less irritated. At first, when administering the Arestin it felt like the tip was a little bit too large to fit into the gingival margin, but angulating it 90 degrees perpendicular to the tooth and gently tilting to 0 degrees along the long axis, helped me push the soft gingival margin away and into the pocket. Flattening the tip with the blunt end of my instrument also helped with insertion. As a City Tech dental hygiene student, I am grateful to be given the opportunity to practice and offer Arestin to my patients. The process of administering Arestin and allowing the antibiotic to take its effect, helps the patient better understand the severity of periodontal disease and the importance of oral health. I now look forward to incorporating Arestin into my treatment plans.
