In the essay “Texting Shorthand Annoys Purists and may have lasting Impact” by Seth Mydans. The authors stance is valid, Shorthand texting is a quick and easier way to send a message. Short and texting also involves a rapid rate, communicative, efficiency and global pervasiveness.

The rapid rate of shorthand texting is a new approach to spelling such as LOL(laughing out loud) and CUL8R (see you later). There is even new evidence that spellings are more advance and broader in use. Even the Scottish Qualifications Authority which set standards for the testing students said “phrases like 2B R NT 2B and I LUV U would be acceptable in exam papers, “ just proved that Shorthand texting are being recognized more than it ever been.

Another shorthand texting is communicative efficiency. Communicative Efficiency is a quick and faster way to talk to someone, instead of writing entire words out. Shorthand texting is a new language with its own vocabulary. The text messages had failed before but now its quicker to communicate with someone. Even Dennis Pyatt, Principal of Papnui High School in Christ Church, New Zealand, who is a linguist said “Text Messaging is one of the more exciting development of language that has occurred for a long time, “ try to say that it is very good idea and it’s a very good decision for shorthand texting .
