What is nursing? To me, nursing is not regarded as just a job. This profession requires not only knowledge and critical thinking skills but possessing characteristic traits, such as compassion, empathy, and kindness. It is about providing the best possible care to those that cannot.

Nursing is not for the faint of heart, as it can be very taxing on the mind and body. Being a nurse requires having patience and gaining the patient’s trust. As nurses, we must advocate for them, because if we don’t, then who will? This applies to every individual, and I especially want to be able to uphold those standards for those who are underrepresented, using CLAS.

CLAS stands for culturally and linguistically appropriate services. It was founded to help eliminate health disparities and provide equal and improved care to everyone, regardless of who they are and what culture they are from. I am devoted to going above and beyond for all my patients. Nursing is not just a job; it is who I am.
