My role is a Design Intern, my primary responsibility is creating graphics for various projects that Liz or her husband, Jon, are working on. This week, I focused on editing one of Jon’s presentations, incorporating charts and images to make the content more visually engaging and easier to understand. My role involves using design to enhance the visual aspects of their work, ensuring the materials are professional and appealing. I chose this internship not only because it aligns closely with my degree but also because I’m passionate about working with female-owned and -run companies. Having worked at several women-founded businesses before, I’ve always thrived in those environments, enjoying the collaborative atmosphere and the opportunity to support other female entrepreneurs.
The interview process with Liz was thorough and insightful. We had a 45-minute Zoom interview where we discussed my current job, my academic background, and the specific areas where she needed help, etc. We also discussed our shared interest in photography. Liz was very transparent about her expectations for the role and made sure to understand how my skills could benefit the company. She also mentioned that she was interviewing another candidatel. By the end of the conversation, I felt confident about the fit, and Liz did get back to me later that day to offer me the position. It was a great experience, and I’m excited to be part of a team that supports entrepreneurial growth, especially in a woman-led business.
