Welcome to my Dental Hygiene e-portfolio!
My name is Nadia Cardenas. I am originally from Barranquilla Colombia. I was born and raised there. Since my early years I am passionate about helping others so I always wanted to work in the health care. I was a pediatric dental assistant for 10 years before becoming a dental hygienist. I love to work in dental hygiene because I can help my patients and also I can improve their quality of life by increasing confident and also impacting their overall health.
I learned much as a dental assistant, but I knew I could do so much more for the community by learning more in the dental field. That was when I decided to return to school to become a dental hygienist; this is an honor and a dream of mine since I came to this country in 2006. I want to be an excellent hygienist and be successful in every aspect of my professional life. It haven’t been easy learning a new career in a totally different language, far from my family but I get my everyday motivation through out my pressious son Nicholas. He is my motor and my everything.
During my previous experience and skills I have learn during the Hygiene program I am so confident that I will always care about my patients and their wellbeing. My number one passion is working in the pediatric field. I have so much experience in patient management and how to reduce stress levels.
Lastly, I would not be who I am today without the love and support of God, my son, my family, friends, and faculty, who have encorouged me to work hard and to never give up my dreams.
