NURSING PHILOSOPHY

NURSING PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

I believe that people are more than a diagnosis or a disease; they are individuals that deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of diagnosis, race, gender, religion, ethnicity or socioeconomic background. Because I value human dignity, I am committed to providing care of highest quality to patients, their families and the community. I am convinced that in order to truly care for patients I must gain their trust and I must be able to make a human connection with them; this I accomplish by taking the best of myself and connecting with the best in the people that I serve. This connection compels me to do the right thing, the right time, the right way, for the right reason, not just some of the time, but all of the time. I am committed to empowering my patients to become active partners in their health care. I believe that compassion is at the heart of nursing and without competence it is impossible to provide high quality compassionate care;  therefore I am committed to continuing education so that I may remain competent, creative, flexible, engaging and dynamic, to care for a more educated, diverse and complex individual in today’s society.
