Mohd Rahal – Blog# 1

Performance Based Hiring is about making the proper and legitimate business choice when talking with a company for work.  In terms of the procuring chiefs and hiring managers and supervisors, It is not about realizing that the applicant can meet the prerequisites for the employment, however that the hopeful shows the short and long term parts of the occupation legitimately, and holds this intense and eager over the long term.  Commonly, the wrong hopeful gets contracted because of the expected set of responsibilities being recorded as opposed to long term goals. For the top individuals to be enlisted, the hiring managers and supervisors need to take part in this “Performance-based hiring” procedure, and edit the hiring procedure and pay attention to what they are looking for.

Years ago, when I started working for the medical lab, which is still my current job, my supervisor didn’t care much about my educational back ground, because he said that training would be enough to get the job done.  After two week of work, he commented to me about my job and he said that he sees a promising future for me in the company because that what he was looking for a fast learner, time- management and using common sense in many situations.  I found myself moving up in the company and reaching higher positions because of good performance and ability to multi-task.  The pay was not my top concern at first when I got the job because the position didn’t pay much, but I liked it and I felt I can do that job forever even though it’s a night-time job.

Having that job without any related degree in medical or biology showed me the way to use decision-making process for my next career and start in a company in a level that I deserve without looking at how much money I can start with because I believe with good job performance I can I achieve more money in shorter time.

The achiever personae is the person who his supervisor or manager can recognize at the job place.  That happens due to the outstanding performance of the person who, and usually get promotional offers and high level of job position.  The manager will be confident about give the higher position to achiever personae because they know he/she can accomplish and get the job done.  One approach to accomplish this is to supplant sets of expectations with execution profiles. Sets of responsibilities have a tendency to depict the assignment of the general occupation title, though an execution profile permits supervisors to contrast their past performance and others that had the employment before them.

At my current job, I was able to move from a department to another, downgrade and upgrade my position with ease because my supervisors know me well and can see my performance.  As a previous team leader, I was able to manage my team member fairly and effectively to achieve production on time and meeting the deadlines every night for 6 days a week.  I was able to hold that position for 6 months with no complaints from doctors or supervisors.  That position came to me by only hard word and me liking my job.  I would like to have the same future I have in my current company to a telecommunication field company and transfer the skills that I have learned so I can build a career based on my educational degree.

My greatest professional accomplishment was at my current job at a veterinary diagnostic laboratory where on Charismas night in December 2013, many people called out of work to be home with their families and I was the only one in the lab.  I had to call my supervisor to inform her about the situation and she was away from NY for the holiday and she just said do whatever you can at work.  In That night, I had to do four people jobs at the same time for different kinds of tests.  One of the tests I never did before.  I was only showed the procedure once and that was seven years ago.  After 14 hours of constantly working nonstop, I had every bench of work done by myself and that fourth left to the end. I went the extra mile and opened the training website and I read quickly about the procedure and I was able to perform the test and send out the results correctly with no mistakes.  After two days, my supervisor came to the lab and she checked the pending list and the worklist and the amount of work the hematology received on Christmas night and looked up the hours and she realized everything was done only by me alone in sixteen hours of work.  She brought that production report to the lab manager and she told him about my job performance.  In January, I was called for a meeting with the homology supervisor and the lab supervisor and they offered me to be a lead tech for the department for night shift, and that comes with a raise of my hour to $9 dollar more than what I am getting paid as a tech II position.  I accepted that job and kept it for about six months until  I asked to not have anymore because it effected my academic performance very badly because of working a lot and studying much less.

I believe my response will measure up in an interview for my intended profession because that what supervisors and managers are looking for.  They are looking for employees that are reliable and can go the extra mill when it’s needed.  SMART analysis applies to my greatest professional accomplish because it was Significant, and motivated by me and meaningful to my supervisor.  I was achievable and realistic because my supervisor said to me on the phone “do whatever you can” and she didn’t expect I can have everything done and all specimens were resulted in a reasonable time managed by me.  This story was one of my greatest accomplishments far and I am hoping to have similar or better future for myself in an engineering company where I can get paid more and use my college degree.
