Professional project managers understand that good project management practices move organizations into achieving superior results. The overall goal for any project manager is to reach results with a constraint on cost while maintain a strong focus on managing risk. In other words good project management helps you deliver more with less and in business that is the name of the game.
Here are some tips and tricks raise your profile as a good project manager:
Share your results
Make it easy for your employer to obtain results on the project. Don’t expect exec’s to hunt for anything. Set up dashboards with information that is important to them. And if possible the data should be in real time.
Be Transparent
It means just what you think it means. Just as it implies your employer needs to be able to see who you really are and what you are doing in the organization on a daily bases. Believe me trust and transparency has become very popular in the work place. Employees seek to be aware of what is real and true.
Deliver on your promises
One of the easiest things to do is to make promises, but it is a lot harder to keep them. As a good project manager you should build your reputation for Delivery by Delivering every time. Think before you speak you might promise someone too much. By taking your time the likely hood of executing your promise will increase. BE CAUTIOUS!
