During these last 2 years in this program, I have acquired proper clinical and academic training where I was able to improve in my clinical skills as a hygienist. These skills enhance my ability to provide the best care to my patients and surpass in my role as a skilled dental hygienist.

  • Proficient in calculus and plaque removal during non-surgical periodontal therapy using a Cavitron and hand scalers.
  • Proficient in providing oral hygiene instructions and home care recommendations based on the patients needs.
  • Proficient in providing extra-oral and intra-oral examinations.
  • Proficient in Arestin assessment, placement, and treatment.
  • Proficient in exposing dental radiographs with the ability to interpret.
  • Proficient in providing pain control management, including the use of topical agents, Oraqix, local infiltration anesthesia, and nitrous oxide.
  • Proficient in the sharpening of instruments.

    • Sealant placement with the use of a rubber dam, cotton roll and dry shield

    • Pouring and trimming stone models from alginate
