Thes where the posters that I’ve created for the Designer Saul Bass

I’ve learned a lot from doing this project, and at first I didn’t know who Saul Bass was when his work was and still is everywhere. Why I chose to do Saul Bass was, when I looked him up I recognised a lot of what he has done and it seemed to interest me a lot. As soon as I saw he had designed the “West Side Story” I was sold. That had got me interested in learning and researching all about Saul Bass as a person, and doing all that research I found out that he designed many different logos as well.

The song that I have chosen was Smooth by Santana and Rob Thomas. The song meaning may be about people meeting the band themselves, but I’ve noticed that when it comes to songs as long as the song has a nice beat to it the lyrics tend to get undermined. But I’m guilty of not reading the lyrics thoroughly and just enjoying the song for what it is. For every thing that I did I tried to follow some basic colors. When I listen to the song, I think about the colors, red, blue, yellow, and green. But for the lyrics, I tried to shape it as if one could see the sound and see the flow of the song. For the eighth page I made the lyrics into a flower, as I’ve loved Santana and their song reminds me of flowers sometimes. For the final page I did a painting but the S is bigger to represent the S for Santana as well. Making it into a single.

What I can take away from doing this project is that, It was interesting that it was not just a simple project that was just nothing but writing. As with this first project was about having creativity and showing what you can do with that creativity into some- thing one is super passionate about. As this is the first project, things may not look that good but with the following project to come there will be better improvement. Next time try to do a project early instead of waiting until the last minute to do so as it may feel like it looks rushed and that there was a lack of effort into doing. But now I know for next time to get it done early so I will not rush and not panic as well when it comes to doing a project.
