I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to a Caribbean/ Latin family, hospitality has always been a part of culture and tradition. So now I have the opportunity to explore my passion and pursue my interests at New York City Tech. I’m looking forward to great experiences ahead. I have also always been interested in sustainability, promoting plant-based nutrition, culinary arts as a form of therapy and culinary tours throughout New York City and across the state, which is a focus I would like to delve into throughout my academic and professional studies in Hospitality Management.

Urban Tourism HMGT 4987 Fall 2024
This course will examine urban tourism as a vehicle of urban renewal and economic regeneration. The roles of government, business, and the community will be explored as well as issues of development, management, the environment and social equity. New York City and Brooklyn will be evaluated as models for the development, challenges and opportunities of urban tourism.

An overview of the history, likely directions and organizational structure of the hospitality industry and its role in local, national and global economies. Students are introduced to the nature and scope of the hospitality industry, basic terminology, management concepts, career path explorations and the departmentās mission and culture.
