Shelley Peebles’s Profile
My Courses
We make ideas concrete. In order to do that, we first accept that writing is a process — an act in which we will participate our whole life long. Music, art, electronics, engineering — you name it — whatever we pursue, we strive to find better ways to flow with the rules of written expression in order to achieve our dreams. We are determined to work hard in order to play well with Language. Let the games begin. What we will express this year has never been said before.
Black Theatre AFR 1321 section LC44 11:30 Mon & Wed FALL 2019
A study of African American dramatic literature to explore the complex ways in which the black experience is constructed and presented by playwrights. Students may have an opportunity to experience a theatrical production in New York City. More specifically, this course is divided into distinct sections. It includes a historical overview of early Black theatre throughout the diaspora. It considers how mid-twentieth century playwrights like Lorraine Hansberry, James Baldwin, Leroi Jones/Amiri Baraka, and Ntozake Shange shape the aesthetics and discourses within Black theatre, and in doing so, create trajectories for contemporary Black playwrights, who also explore the social, political and cultural experiences of Africana people.
Topics include an in-depth study of functions such as polynomial functions, radical functions, rational functions, trigonometric functions, exponential and logarithmic functions; connections to vectors and complex numbers; solving trigonometric equations, and identities involving sum, double and half-angle formulas; Binomial Theorem and progressions.
