Bio

Hello. My name is Rose Mary Perez. I was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Flushing, Queens. I attended the High School of Fashion Industries and earned an Associate Degree in Fine Arts from Mount Ida College in Boston, Massachusetts. My eagerness to stay current and active in my career has led me to return to school. I’m an upper junior attending the New York City College of Technology in pursuit of my Bachelor of Technology degree in Communications Design. I understand that technology and software start with hardware. Therefore, I am cross-platform, using both the Mac and PC with ease. My computer skills include the proficiency of the Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Flash).

I’ve been employed by the public relations firm GCI Group as a production manager. Along with freelancing for Time Inc. publications such as: Money and Essence Magazine as a presentation designer. I’ve had the privilege of working with their creative services departments and art directors creating marketing materials such as PowerPoint presentations, leave behinds, sell sheets, brochures, and signage. However, it was working with Lion Brand Yarn Company as an image manager that opened up the digital world to me. There I learned to crop and resize images, compress and format files for optimization, and then upload. One of the contributions to the company was to devise and implement a systematic digital image library. This was the beginning of web production for me. My expectation upon the completion of my education is a career in web design and development. I live for the moment when it all comes together: the idea, the concept, the layout, and the code that evolves into the final project.
