This Learning Communities course themed Emotions 101: Learning to Navigate the Challenges of College and Life will offer readings, writing assignments, and a shared movie, “127 Hours,” enabling students to identify stresses in their own lives, recognize stresses they share with other students entering college, and collaboratively develop effective coping skills to address them. This material will be combined with academic rigor and requirements for both PSY 1101 and ENG 1101.

Realizing the value of the research experience at the undergraduate level, this project is committed to fostering research opportunities for City Tech students. Faculty and students can use this project as a place to share announcements about research opportunities, as well as a place to offer information about the experiences students and faculty have had in their research endeavors. A handbook on effective mentoring, developed by the Undergraduate Research Committee, is currently available for download.

Each year, the English Department at New York City College of Technology organizes the Literary Arts Festival. This event highlights the work of students, staff, and faculty, as well as accomplished writers outside of the City Tech community. There is also a writing competition that awards prizes to students in a variety of writing categories, as well as to faculty and staff in their own category.
