Michael Woods’s Profile
Adaptive Reuse, Urban Design, Resilience, Sustainability
I grew up in Southern California and have a B Arch degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and as Masters degree from MIT. My work at Perkins & Will is focused on commercial projects for workplace along with science and technology with much of it adaptive reuse. Projects include 799 Broadway and West End Labs along with headquarters for Unilever. Prior to joining Perkins & Will, I worked for Ennead, Rafael Viñoly and RTKL. My independent projects include the Future Station Project that reimagined gas stations in the transition to electric vehicles, funded by The Architectural League of New York and the New York State Council on the Arts. With AIANY, I’ve been very active with the Design for Risk and Reconstruction committee. I combined my interests in travel and food to create a web series called Eat Drink See Architecture with over 90 short videos pairing an architectural site with a place to eat or drink nearby.
