Derek’s Profile
My Courses
This course teaches students on how to design functional mechanical components and systems using engineering knowledge, communication skills, and design principles they learned from the Mathematics, Physics, Communication and library art courses, Engineering Statics, Strength of Materials, Materials Sciences, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software packages. Students are required to complete a multidisciplinary hands-on design project utilizing concurrent engineering approach incorporating mechanical and electronic and software design into their design work.
MECH 3550 Simulation and Visualization, Fall 2013
Instructor: Professor Masato R. Nakamura Room: V507 Time T 6:00-9:20pm Code: LEC E426
MECH4800: Advanced 3D Animation Spring2015
2 cl hrs, 2 lab hrs, 3 cr Extends techniques learned in earlier industrial design courses (IND 2313 and IND 2410) and builds upon theories introduced in earlier animation courses (such as IND 2420). Foundation for advanced animation construction, incorporation of and integration with external media, and techniques to automate and optimize development processes. Dynamic particles, flexible soft body creation, texturing, “hair” particles, fluid simulation, rigging, lighting, and plant simulation. Prerequisites: MECH 3510
MECH 3600 Mechanical Measurement and Instrumentation
This course teaches techniques, equipment, and measurement procedures used by mechanical engineers. Students will perform test, collect data from data acquisition systems, and apply statistic analysis to experimental data. Common sensors such as temperature sensor, sonar sensor, IR sensor, strain gauge/load cell will be used.
