I’m Derek Ametam, a final year student of the New York City College of Technology.
I’m in the computer engineering major studies. I love computer because technology is the way that we will make our environment a better place to live. Computers are fun to work with in general and i love what i do.

CET4711 Computer-Controlled System Design I
The capstone course introduces students to the concepts of computer controlled system design and project management. The course focuses in the application of electric circuits, computer programming, software applications, analog and digital electronics, microcomputers and microcontrollers, networks, and engineering standards to the designing, building, testing, operation, and maintenance of computer systems and associated software systems.
My Projects
This is an ID Scanner system that will help Professor’s take attendance in their classes. The students will swipe their school ID card and the system will record the students name. It will give the student a 1 for being present, 0 for absent, and 0.5 for coming in late. All data is written to Excel using the DataNitro Add-in. This project uses the Arduino Uno, USB Host Shield, and a Magnetic Stripe Reader as the hardware.
