LAW 1103, Civil Law & Procedure S17

This course is the theory and application of law and procedure in civil litigation with emphasis on New York State law. It focuses on the role of the paralegal in preparing for litigation, including an understanding of the court system, the steps required in the litigation process and their time lines, drafting documents, trial and post-trial topics and an introduction to the use of the computer in litigation.

City Tech students participate in clubs and organizations, reflecting a broad range of academic and social interests. Working closely with student clubs and the Student Government Association, Student Life and Development promotes full participation and access to student events and activities without regard to race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, age, religion, disability status, gender identity, sexual orientation or national origin. Digital Stories: Fictional Characters and Their Real-Life Themes

This project houses digital stories produced by students at City Tech. Multimedia storytelling is used to provide a multifaceted account of a capacious issue. Fictional characters are “interviewed” so their experiences can be situated within real issues in today’s world.

Law and Paralegal Club

It is the mission of the Law and Paralegal Studies (LPS) Club at New York City College of Technology to promote the paralegal and legal profession by increasing awareness and understanding of the legal environment. The Club welcomes all Law and Paralegal Studies majors as well as those who are not currently enrolled in the major. The Club provides opportunities to interact with each other and legal professionals to enhance networking opportunities and knowledge of the legal field. The LPS Club sponsors/participates in a variety of events related to scholastic, personal, and professional development. Activities include graduate law school and job fairs, panel discussions and trips to appellate and supreme courts.
