Jhon Singleton’s Profile
curriculum and instruction
Hi, I was born in Charleston, South Carolina. I have been teaching as an adjunct professor since 2007 to present at various colleges. All of them helped me grow intellectually and are fulfilling in their respective ways. Also, UPS part-time job keeps me grounded with contemporary political and critical concerns, keeping him conscious of the common man’s concerns. UPS has been my stability throughout all of these years when the economy can be unstable as an adjunct professor. I am a proud intellectual and Teamster Union worker for all my adult life and am expected to retire in 2023 to devote more time to my creative writing. The complementary nature of academia and the everyday blue-collar environment weigh heavily in creative work, regardless of the subject or genre. I attempt to thrill the pieces with experimental stanzas and paragraphs, charging them with clear spatial epiphanies in the words and lines that are sharp as an ax as well as delicate as aged Merlo that hopefully stains the page with brutal clarity.
During my continuing studies, I deeply discovered and fell in love with the works of T.S. Eliot, William Carlos Williams, Walt Whitman, Tony Morrison, and William Faulkner.
