The sto­ry­board is the vi­sual ver­sion of the script. It con­sists of a num­ber of pan­els that show the vi­sual ac­tion of a se­quence in a log­i­cal nar­ra­tive. The sto­ry­board is used as a tool for pro­duc­tion or to as­sist in the sell­ing of ideas to clients. The em­pha­sis in this class is on story, idea and de­vel­op­ment. Stu­dents will de­sign and pre­sent sto­ry­boards for top­ics in­clud­ing com­mer­cials, film and tele­vi­sion ti­tles and video pre­sen­ta­tions.

The storyboard is the visual version of the script. It consists of a number of panels that show the visual action of a sequence in a logical narrative. The storyboard is used as a tool for production or to assist in the selling of ideas to clients. The emphasis in this class is on story, idea and development. Students will design and present storyboards for topics including commercials, film and television titles and video presentations.

Through lec­tures, demon­stra­tions and hands-on prac­tice, stu­dents will learn how to cre­ate, pro­duce and edit a dig­i­tal video pro­ject. Top­ics in­clude: (1) pre-pro­duc­tion – cre­ative con­cept, sto­ry­board­ing, script­ing, lo­ca­tion se­lec­tion, cre­ative and pro­duc­tion team mem­ber roles and re­spon­si­bil­i­ties, props and cast­ing; shot and light­ing analy­sis; (2) pro­duc­tion – record­ing video and audio, light­ing; (3) post-pro­duc­tion – pro­cess­ing, edit­ing, com­pil­ing, final out­put to the web or DVD using soft­ware such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Pre­miere and Adobe After Ef­fects.

Through lectures, demonstrations and hands-on practice, students will learn how to create, produce and edit a digital video project. Topics include: (1) pre-production – creative concept, storyboarding, scripting, location selection, creative and production team member roles and responsibilities, props and casting; shot and lighting analysis; (2) production – recording video and audio, lighting; (3) post-production – processing, editing, compiling, final output to the web or DVD using software such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
