Preparation for teaching an advanced mathematics curriculum with a focus on the processes of mathematical argumentation and reasoning, deduction, and discovery. Topics include propositional and firstorder logic, axiomatic approach to number theory, set theory and abstract properties of relations, with a particular emphasis on number theory.
EDU 2455 – Methods and Materials for Special Needs Students (Hybrid) Fall 2020
A review of current methods and materials in working with special needs students. Content includes the role of the educator pertaining to diversity equity and inclusion practices, developmental psychology and cognitive processes pertaining to the student population, and preparation of individual education plans.
This course is designed to prepare students for the study of Calculus. Topics include an in-depth study of functions such as polynomial functions, inverse functions, radical functions, rational functions, trigonometric functions, exponential and logarithmic functions; solving inequalities; elements of vectors and complex numbers; solving trigonometric equations and identities involving sum, double and half-angle formulas; Binomial Theorem; and progressions.
