My name is Samuel Guzman, I work full time and also trying to attend school. My goals here at CityTech is to graduate with a Communication Design degree, to become a graphic designer. I have little experience with adobe systems but I am very eager to learn. My hobbies are almost non-existent because of work.

In­tern­ship in Com­mu­ni­ca­tion De­sign On­line Mix (OM) Writ­ing In­ten­sive 2 cl hrs, 120 field hrs/se­mes­ter (BFA de­gree) As­sign­ment to field­work/study sit­u­a­tions of ap­prox­i­mately 12+ hours per week at an in­tern­ship site ap­proved by the de­part­ment In­tern­ship Co­or­di­na­tor: an ad­ver­tis­ing agency, graphic de­sign firm, cor­po­rate de­sign of­fice, pub­li­ca­tions art de­part­ment, pho­tog­ra­phy or il­lus­tra­tion stu­dio, TV or media pro­duc­tion com­pany. Each stu­dent keeps a blog/jour­nal to be shared in group sem­i­nars. Su­per­vi­sion is by fac­ulty and by the su­per­vi­sor at the in­tern­ship site. The class is a hy­brid class. In­tern­ships may be un­der­taken dur­ing the spring, sum­mer and fall se­mes­ters. Pre­req­ui­sites: COMD 3701 or COMD 4701 or de­part­ment ap­proval. This is a be­gin­ning course that ex­plores the tech­ni­cal and aes­thetic con­cerns of pho­tog­ra­phy. Using dSLR cam­eras, pro­fes­sional light­ing equip­ment and soft­ware, stu­dents will ex­plore fun­da­men­tal con­cepts of light, ex­po­sure, and com­po­si­tion in order to de­velop the abil­ity to con­trol pho­to­graphic style to cre­ate vi­su­ally en­gag­ing im­ages.

This course in­tro­duces stu­dents to core con­cepts in the graphic com­mu­ni­ca­tions field in­clud­ing ty­pog­ra­phy, color the­ory, de­sign and pro­duc­tion ter­mi­nol­ogy, re­pro­duc­tion processes, file for­mats and sub­strates. Dur­ing the se­mes­ter, stu­dents will com­plete three pages of their own ePort­fo­lio web site. Lec­tures will pro­vide stu­dents with a his­tor­i­cal per­spec­tive of the graphic com­mu­ni­ca­tions field as well as dis­cussing cur­rent prac­tices and fu­ture trends.
