ComD 3316 Advanced Digital Image Editing
An advanced raster imaging skills course focused on color correcting and retouching continuous tone images. Students learn how digital images can be enhanced and optimized. Bitmapped files are strategically modified using color modes, paths, selections, layers, filters and curves. Discussions, quizzes and projects focus on professional terminology and techniques for making alterations to match a clientās instructions using industry-standard software.
COMD 1340 D088 Photography 1 Fall 2022
This is a beginning course that explores the technical and aesthetic concerns of photography. Using dSLR cameras, professional lighting equipment and software, students will explore fundamental concepts of light, exposure, and composition in order to develop the ability to control photographic style to create visually engaging images.
COMD1127 Type & Media Fall 2021
Foundation course in typography with emphasis on using type for a multiple of industry related applications ranging from print to interactive. Students are introduced to principles of type design and terminology including: variations of type structure, anatomy, font usage, grid, leading, kerning, tracking and alignment.
COMD 1100 Graphic Principles 1 Fall 2021
This basic design and color theory course explores graphic communication through practice, art history and by exposure to the elements and principles of design, as well as the design process, including idea development through final execution. Students develop skills in two-dimensional design, color and content creation while employing the design process of research, sketching and experimentation. Communication designers use the concepts explored in this course in disciplines such as advertising, graphic design, web design, illustration, broadcast design, photography, and game design.
COMD1200_OL56_Graphic Design Principles II Spring 2022
Explore creative visual communication through graphic design. Using type and graphics, students will participate in the process of communicating concepts by experimenting with image-making techniques. Acquire the professional knowledge, language, and processes neededāfrom initial thumbnail to final presentationāin multiple disciplines such as graphic design, web design, advertising, motion, illustration, broadcast design production, and others.
