Bio

Dayana Lucero is currently a freshmen at City Tech. She’s currently majoring in legal studies to peruse her passions law, justice, and history. Dayana graduted this summer from Queens Gateway to Health Sciences Secondary School. Senior year in high school, Dayana was able to take position as Senior Council President. This position has taught her responsibility and grit, two qualities she carries with her everywhere shes goes. Upon graduating City Tech with a bachelors in Legal Studies Dayana plans to continue perusing her education by going to law school. The two fields of law that capture her attention are civil and corporate however, she has not decided which one she will practice.

ENG3401 Law through Literature, SP2022

An exploration of concepts of justice, higher law, customary law and written law expressed through works of fiction and non-fiction. The course seeks to enhance the student’s sensitivity to issues of ethics, gender bias and class consciousness as they affect the administration of justice. Readings improve communication skills and strengthen legal skills of identifying, articulating and locating problems in the context of underlying legal issues. Written assignments emphasize expository writing skills.. Please note that this course is designated as Writing Intensive, and it has a rigorous reading schedule.

An examination of the concepts and classifications used in and about legal systems; problems of legal reasoning and judicial decision-making; and the evaluation of philosophical and legal arguments in the areas of justice, liberty and responsibility on such issues as civil disobedience, capital punishment, censorship and pornography, reverse discrimination, theory of torts and contracts.
