EMT 2370: Computer Hardware Systems
Computer hardware systems, along with several software concepts, are studied to understand the function and relationship of the CPU, memory, and peripheral equipment. Course material is chosen for relevance to industry certification exams such as A+. The peripheral equipment includes monitors, disk drives, scanners, and printers. During laboratory exercises, computer systems, with monitor and operating system, are provided for analysis by students working in teams. However, as an option, each student can build, configure, analyze and troubleshoot his or her own IBM PC (or compatible) computer.

Electrical Networks is a circuit and power analysis course in an alternating current (ac) level designed for engineering technology students. It introduces students to theory and principles of circuit analysis such as series parallel, and series-parallel ac circuit; network theorems and circuit methods of solving ac circuits; ac power analysis, resonance, and passive filters. Some direct current (dc) circuit analysis concepts will be covered at the beginning of the course as part of the review materials.

“Talk n Roll Bot” is a robotic project currently under active development in the Mechatronics Technology Center (MTC) at CityTech. MTC is an NSF funded project established through collaboration between Mechanical Engineering Technology and Computer Engineering Technology departments. Prof. Farrukh Zia from Computer Engineering Technology department is supervising the development of Talk n Roll Bot.
As the name suggests, Talk n Roll Bot will have the capability to roll around on two wheels and speak with the help of computer controlled voice synthesis.

For the next 15 years she helped countless number of students in colleges and universities across the country learn about Computer and Robotics Technology. Then she went into hibernation. Fast forward to 2017… City Tech Women Engineers Club members have taken the initiative to revive HERO, give her a new life and new features, with the help of modern computer hardware and software technology. Her capabilities will be enhanced with the implementation of Assistive Technology to enable her to help people with disabilities. She will be a true Super HERO!

Joining IEEE WIE student chapter is optional. We provide support, information and resources to all members to help them succeed in their engineering technology field of interest.
