Biography
Dorette Smith is a Neighborhood Director at Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CNR). The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is the premier Skilled Facility in the NY Metro Area. Dorette is responsible for the operation of CNR’s Pleasantville Neighborhood and directs patient care services that support the health and well-being of the frail, sick and elderly who reside on this 80 bed unit. As part of the Executive Nursing leadership, Dorette has re-defined the role of clinical nurses in integrated patient care and management of both Long and Short-Term Sub Acute care residents for CNR’s 320 bed facility.
Dorette transitioned into CNR’s Nursing Administration as a Neighborhood Director. Prior to this, she held the role as Clinical Coordinator and began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. As part of CNR’s Executive Nursing Leadership team, Dorette co-authored and was awarded with the 2012 and 2014 American Medical Directors Association Award for Quality in Healthcare Outcomes, 2013 Leading Age innovation Award and Managed Care Magazine’s 2011 Best Long Term Care Team. In 2014, Dorette co-authored “Skill Nursing Facility: The New Med Surg. An Integrated Approach in Reducing Hospitalizations through value Based Healthcare” and presented at the annual Leading Age DNS/DSW National Conference.
Dorette holds an AAS Degree in Nursing from the New York City College of Technology and continues to expand her scope of her Administrative responsibility within CNR. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Service Administration at New York City College of Technology and is fond of saying that she has and continues to climb the ladder of her professional career.
