Bio

I am a recent transfer student from The College of Staten Island. I switched my major from Geography to Hospitality Management. I love geography ,but I feel tourism better suits my true passion in life, which is travel. Whenever I have a free moment I’m fantasizing and planning where I am going to visit. Sometimes I’m only home a few hours from a vacation before I start researching my next trip. I’m very outgoing and love interacting with people from all walks of life. It always interests me to learn about people’s lives and how they may view the world differently from myself. My main objective is to gain as much knowledge about the tourism industry and every angle it covers and apply to my real life business prospects. I am a person that is constantly on the move and I don’t love sitting at a desk all day. My ultimate end goal would be operating my own business that allows me to explore different aspects of the industry, while still being able to establish relationships with clients. I believe that a successful business starts with knowledge.

This course provides an operational overview of the front office and rooms operations. Students learn management information systems(MIS) terminology and concepts and functions of the rooms division in relation to other key departments within the hotel.

SUSTAINABILITY IN HOSPITALITY – This learning community will introduce the 21st Century relevance of sustainability in the hospitality industry and incorporating the concept connecting the various foundations taught in these two introductory management classes. Connections will be made as students investigate their career options and widen their scope of industry knowledge. Students will learn how to establish a professional electronic profile and simulate a career exploration search.
