Mission statement
I am current graphic design student trying to design logos in the best way to inform clients and people how the process of the design. the way I will convey is to get an idea and use to the best of my ability. Will use digital media to enhance my work. To have a understanding correlation between raster and vector and relate to digital media. I have skills of photoshop illustrator and indesign.

Use social media and to use portfolio pieces to express and communicate with advertisements. I am always kept update with the new programs in case of a change. Have an understanding of balance between text and white space. To be humble and honest with creativity and it’s own ideas.

The emphasis in this intermediate photography class is on creative problem solving with photography for the Communication Design field. Students learn to transform subject matter with photographic style in order to communicate ideas.

Internship in Communication Design (Hybrid) Assignment to field work/study situations of approximately 15+ plus hours per week at a graphic arts-related internship site approved by the department internship director. Sites may be in areas such as advertising, printing, corporate communications or publishing. Students keep a log/journal to be shared in group seminars/discussions. Supervision is by faculty and by the job supervisor. Students will be required to keep a learning journal of their internship in the form of a blog using Open Lab.

COMD3504 Communication Design Theory, OL10, Spring 2021

This course will offer an in-depth introduction to communication design theory, examining theoretical perspectives of design practice within the larger discourse of design and visual culture. Communication models, the nature of representation, the dimensions of context and semiotics will be explored through critical readings from key documents written between the early decades of the twentieth century and the present.

COMD 3501 OL01 IDENTITY DESIGN SP2021

In this course students will partner with Hospitality Program students to create a visual identity for a restaurant. Hospitality students will provide a concept and menu items and together, students will develop the name, logo and menu designs. Students will explore the elements that make an identity appropriate, engaging and cohesive. Color palette, iconography and type selection will be discussed with Hospitality clients. Designers will present their Hospitality clients with options and discuss possibilities. Menus will be comped and formally presented at the end of the 7th week. In the second portion of the course design students will be working on their own to further develop the identity elements. They will design applications such as signage, an ad campaign, communications package and develop guidelines for logo usage. The final project will be presented in a printed and bound book. Slide lectures, assigned readings, videos and class critiques will augment the design process.

COMD1112 D106 Digital Media Foundations SPRING 2020 MT

This course introduces students to core concepts in the media field including color theory, design and production terminology, reproduction processes, file formats and substrates. During the semester, students will complete three pages of their own ePortfolio web site, complete a print design project and one video project. Lectures will provide students with a historical perspective of the media field as well as discussing current practices and future trends.
