MTEC 2210, Game Design & Interactive Media, 2017
This course offers a cross-disciplinary foundation for the design of games and interactive multi-media technology for artists, engineers, scientists and technologists. Students will learn human-centered design principles and apply these methodologies to collaborative team-based projects across web interactive, mobile, games, virtual & augmented reality, biomedia and environmental installation. Using case studies, brainstorming processes, and rapid analog and digital prototyping, students learn design thinking and problem-solving techniques to enhance usability, incorporate sensory experience, influence perception, increase appeal, and make more effective interactive design decisions.
LIB1201 Research & Documentation for the Information Age D950
This course explores research and documentation for all media formats including text, images, sound, and multimedia. Students will explore information issues, especially in terms of their relevance today: how information is produced and organized in both traditional and emerging media, how information access is affected by political, economic and cultural factors, and the ethics of information use. Students will also acquire the practical skills of locating information sources in a variety of media and formats, critical evaluation of sources, and documentation and citation of traditional and emerging media and technologies. Students will apply what they learn to create and present research and documentation projects.
IMT1101 Emerging Media Foundations SP2015
An introduction to interactive multimedia technology with a focus on interdisciplinary, project based, cooperative learning. Attendees will be immersed in the protocols and processes of the design process: ideation, presentation, dissemination, prototyping, and production. Participants will explore basic theoretical and applied concepts of audio, visual, tactile and interaction design through creative group projects, visiting professionals, and online documentation of work produced. This course provides a foundational structure necessary for working in the the highly interdisciplinary media technology field. This course lays the foundation for work and research practices that the will be expected to follow in the rest of the academic career and in the workplace.
IMT1102 Production Practices SP2015
This course provides a hands-on introduction to the applied principles and production techniques used in interactive media development. Students will be introduced to the basic theory, practices, and technology necessary for success in digital media courses. Topics include digital imaging, audio and video management, prototyping, project management, as well as, interactive, networked, and physical computing technologies. The structure of this course emphasizes an integrated and creative approach to interactive media with detailed instruction and practice in the technical aspects of production that go hand in hand with critical academic thinking.

New and improved citation/reference manager omega
Our new citation tool will be able to give recommendations based on keywords in the citation and reference manager. Our tool will track citations, allowing students to do better research based on a sliding scale that rates the relevance of the of the article based on the amount of stars previous students gave the article, book, or journal paper. (Similar to a yelp review). For example if a 1000 people reviewed a journal article, and more than half believed it was a good source, our tool could recommend future students to use that source relevant to that topic, and give you other article options. (A drop down box will appear when you type in keywords in the citation manger). Our tool will also use plug-ins, to merge two different platforms. A wizard will do a walk thru on the citation manger to show the student how to use the tool on different platforms (ex. Firefox, Mozilla, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer).
