As­sign­ment to field­work/study sit­u­a­tions of ap­prox­i­mately eight hours per week at an in­tern­ship site ap­proved by the in­tern­ship in­struc­tor.: an ad­ver­tis­ing agency; broad­cast de­sign com­pany; graphic de­sign firm; cor­po­rate de­sign of­fice; pub­li­ca­tions art de­part­ment; pho­tog­ra­phy or il­lus­tra­tion stu­dio; web de­sign, TV or mul­ti­me­dia pro­duc­tion com­pany. Each stu­dent will keep a log/jour­nal to be shared in group sem­i­nars. Su­per­vi­sion will be by fac­ulty and by the su­per­vi­sor at the in­tern­ship site. In­tern­ships may be un­der­taken dur­ing the flu, spring or sum­mer se­mes­ters.

Assignment to fieldwork/study situations of approximately eight hours per week at an internship site approved by the internship instructor.: an advertising agency; broadcast design company; graphic design firm; corporate design office; publications art department; photography or illustration studio; web design, TV or multimedia production company. Each student will keep a log/journal to be shared in group seminars. Supervision will be by faculty and by the supervisor at the internship site. Internships may be undertaken during the flu, spring or summer semesters.

Of­fi­cial de­scrip­tion: This sur­vey course is de­signed to in­tro­duce both men and women to the writ­ings of se­lected women writ­ers, through read­ings by both major au­thors and less well-known writ­ers. Is­sues of form, struc­ture and genre will be dis­cussed. Stu­dents will read, an­a­lyze and dis­cuss themes raised by women writ­ers. A va­ri­ety of gen­res will be dis­cussed in­clud­ing es­says, short sto­ries and poems, and a novel will be ex­plored. Women writ­ers from the United States, Great Britain, and the Caribbean may be in­cluded.

Official description: This survey course is designed to introduce both men and women to the writings of selected women writers, through readings by both major authors and less well-known writers. Issues of form, structure and genre will be discussed. Students will read, analyze and discuss themes raised by women writers. A variety of genres will be discussed including essays, short stories and poems, and a novel will be explored. Women writers from the United States, Great Britain, and the Caribbean may be included.
