ENG 1121-5419 Composition II: Reading, Revision, Rhetoric

English 1121 continues the work we began in English 1101. We will work on developing critical reading and writing skills as we write about works of literature. We will discuss four literary genres: non-fiction essays, the short story, the novel, and drama. Assignments will require students to write in different styles such as summary, citation, exposition, analysis, and research. In addition, we will utilize a new digital platform called OpenLab, which will help us to engage with each other’s writing and world outside of the classroom.

ARCH 1291

ARCH 1291

Visual Studies II builds on the knowledge of architectural representation and visualization obtained in ARCH 1111 and ARCH 1191. This course is taken in tandem with ARCH 1211. (Architectural Design II: Foundations), and focuses particularly on: precise crafting of physical and analogue models and architectural presentations, analogue and digital rendering techniques, and representation of geo-spatial information. The course provides the tools for students in their design work by strengthening their skills visually, verbally, and graphically so they may demonstrate their fluency in and understanding of key design vocabulary, concepts, and visual techniques.

ARCH 1210 M-W

Architectural Design II: Foundations is the second course in the one year foundation sequence which increases the student’s ability to perceive visual cues, create visual design, formulate concepts, and render ideas in two or three dimensions. Students will use a combination of hand and digital skills to aid in the creation and interpretation of three dimensional objects and space, and the delineation of the same using standard projection systems.

My Projects

CUNY Service Corps

CUNY Service Corps

The CUNY Service Corps will mobilize CUNY students, faculty and staff to work on projects that improve the short and long-term civic, economic and environmental sustainability of New York City and of its residents and communities. The program’s goals are three-fold: for students to make a meaningful difference through service while gaining valuable real-world work experience, earning a wage, and where appropriate, receiving college credit; for faculty members and staff, through their work with students in the program, to have additional opportunities to apply their expertise to addressing many of the city’s key challenges; and for residents, communities, and project sponsors to realize concrete benefits as a result of CUNY Service Corps projects.
