Lab 3

Analysis of HVAC system of a Commercial system using detailed approach

Objective

Introduction

The objective of the current report is to draw an attention to the aspects of the HVAC system of the proposed NAV stadium in Italy. Due to the massive size of NAV stadium, it is one thing to realize that the HVAC loads of the structure must be huge. Total hourly heating and cooling load of the stadium building is needed to maintain by efficient HVAC design. Stadium shape and open spaces enable a natural ventilation of the majority of the spaces, which cuts down the cooling load for the structure and leaves only a small percentage of spaces that need to be conditioned.

Inputs

Few more assumptions are-

  1. Vents at Roof
  2. Vents at each level
  3. Initial calculations include Area, lighting, solar radiation, occupant Sensible and Latent load.
  4. Building height- 100 ft
  1. 300 BTU/hr by people
  2. 200 SF/Person
  3. 1.5 w/SF for lighting
  4. 3 w/SF for equipment
  5. 100 w/SF incident solar on horizontal surface
  6. 60 w/SF incident solar on West or east facing surface at peak time
  7. Ton of AC = 12,000 BTU/Hr per ton
  8. Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) is 13, (A measure of a cooling output at a given electrical input for a typical cooling season)
  9. Electrical Energy costs $16.12 per million BTU
