Mary Eapen, RN
My name is Mary Eapen, R.N., an Assistant Nursing Care Coordinator in the cardiology department at Downstate Medical Center at Long Island College Hospital. Nursing is my career and passion, which has given me a sense of pride and a great zeal for working with patients and other professional roles in the medical field. Florence Nightingale portrayed nursing as an art, and I believe nursing as the art of caring. Maintain a good relationship with my patient, to be a patient advocate, and to treat every human being with dignity and respect. . I believe that each individual no matter what race, sex, age, or culture, will be treated with the highest regards to compassion, integrity and the respect they deserve. My nursing vision coincides to Watson’s theory and holds that caring is central to health and growth. Personally, nursing is my way of giving back to the people. I enjoy helping others; it gives me peace of mind, makes me happy and keeps me in good spirit. My personal philosophy of nursing is to support, educate and provide the means for proper health.
Through my education, my goal is to take full advantage of the experiences that I receive from nursing school in order to be the best nurse I could possibly be and continue to grow as an RN I am still in nursing today because every day always brings new challenges, opportunities and experiences. Since technological innovations are taking nursing in a different direction, research and evidence based practice are developing a better standard of care. I am excited to learn more about those innovations and contribute to improving the quality of healthcare through caring service, which I hope represents my current and future nursing career.
