During my academic years here at NYCCT and prior to entering the Dental Hygiene program, I had the opportunity to work with a great team of Biologist/Researchers as a member of the Emerging Scholar Program. In December 2013, I presented my research titled “The effectiveness of two different genomic-DNA extraction protocols for extracting DNA from Zonocerus variegated grasshopper for genomic studies” during the Emerging Scholars Research Annual Presentation. I was later awarded a stipend for my hard work and encouraged to continue researching. However, because of the high demands of this program and time constraint, I was unable to complete my research project. Overall, I am very grateful and honored to be one of the selected students to be granted this opportunity. Below is a list of my accomplishments here at NYCCT and JJay CUNY.
