Unit: Dental Veneers LP# 1 of 15

LESSON TOPIC: Introduction to Dental Veneers

NYS LEARNING STANDARD(S) ADDRESSED BY LESSON: Students who choose a career major will acquire the career-specific technical knowledge/skills necessary to progress toward gainful employment, career advancement, and success in postsecondary programs.

MOTIVATION: In these tough economic times, many fields are experiencing low growth and poor job prospects. Defying this trend is the dental technology industry. People will always need dental care, what’s more interesting is the way technology and entertainment are changing the way consumers view their appearance. More people are opting for cosmetic dentistry either to enhance their self esteem with a brighter smile or simply to make a good first impression at that job interview. With the average age of a dental technician at 51, there’s never been a more need for younger students eager to join a promising career that involves craft, artistry, and creativity.

INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES: Student will be able to fabricate a 6 unit anterior bridge using the wax and press technique. The performance will be judged based on a 70 % completion of all steps.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT – MATERIALS – PREPARATION:
