My name is Myint Aye. I am a senior dental hygiene student at New York City College of Technology. I am an immigrant from Myanmar in South East Asia. I grew up in a society where the medical profession is considered noble and with a group of relatives who work in the field. This has inspired me to follow my pursuit for the dental hygiene profession. As I study in the field, I come to realize how important dental hygiene is for the quality of our livelihood affecting our general health, social, moral and self-esteem. I am motivated to complete the program successfully and start out my career well equipped with knowledge and skills.
I was listed on the Dean’s Honor List and I am a recipient of the Jewish Foundation for Education of Women (JFEW) scholarship program. I presented a table clinic on “Laser and Soft Tissue Management”, which was selected to present in the Greater New York Dental Meeting in December 2014.
I am certified in New York State Local Anesthesia by Infiltration, CPR as well as in Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
